Are you creative and meticulous Building, restoring, and customizing firearms takes time and uses various procedures and operations to custom fit a shotgun, as well as make parts for firearms when no parts are available. In part two of our Gunsmithing program, students will learn how to distinguish between selections of wood to be used for gunstock, as well as, design and choose the layout of the stock. Students will be able to bring together their creativity and focus to learn how to inlet, finish, bed, and checker a gunstock. Finally, our Gunsmithing Course 2 program will cover the procedures used in polishing, plating, bluing, Parkerizing, browning, engraving, and jeweling the metal parts of a firearm. If done correctly, the processes learned in this program can be very profitable work for a gunsmith.
Gunsmithing - Course 1
After completing this course, you should be able to:
Identify the types of chamber reamers and the tools for adjusting the trigger pull, lap rifle, and shotgun bores
Identify the types of wood that should be used in repairing a damaged gunstock
Identify the processes for inletting, finishing, bedding, and checkering, and restoring a gunstock
Define the processes of hand and power polishing and mass finishing
Identify the difference between Parkerizing, bluing, and browning

What is difference between a certificate and a certification?
By successfully completing a course through one of our college or university partners the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion from the institution. If there is a state or national exam that the course is preparing a student for, the proper certifying body will be indicated and that association will proctor and award any type of certification. This is the student’s responsibility, although ECA is here to help guide our students in the right direction.
Does this course translate in to college credit?
Through our college and university partners, ECA offers non-credit certificate programs.
How long do access to my complete my course?
Access will begin on your start date and end on your end date unless otherwise specified. If you are falling behind in your course please contact an Education Consultant to talk about your options.
When are the course start dates?
The course start dates are determined by the student due to open-enrollment.
Is the Certification exam included in the course?
The certification exam is not included in the cost of the course unless otherwise specified in the course education and training plan.
