The Dental Office Assistant course delivers all the latest information and skill practice you need to succeed in the paperless era: technology, forms, and equipment in use today; up-to-date coding information; HIPAA and OSHA guidelines; functions of the dental business office; communication and critical thinking exercises; and in-depth instruction for completing common tasks such as scheduling, bookkeeping, electronic record regulations and insurance coding.
After completing this course, you should be able to:
Identify good communication skills, telephone techniques, and methods for maintaining patient relations.
Comprehend the role of the dental office assistant within the Dental Healthcare Team.
Recognize the requirements for managing dental office systems and dental patient records.
Identify the steps for managing dental office finances including insurance processing, financial arrangements, and collection procedures.
Identify the steps for bookkeeping procedures including accounts receivable and accounts payable.
A Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certification helps validate proficiency in using Microsoft
Office 2013 and meets the demand for the most up-to-date skills on the latest Microsoft Technologies. Candidates who pass a certification exam show that they can meet globally recognized performance standards. Candidates must pass ONE certification exam in order to earn a MOS certification.

Overall employment of secretaries and administrative assistants is expected to grow 12 percent from 2010 to 2020, about as fast as the average for all occupations. Among specialties, medical secretaries is the only occupation that is expected to have much-faster-than-average employment growth. This is driven by the rapid growth of the healthcare industry. Overall, the majority of job openings will result from the need to replace workers who leave these occupations.

Can I write in the books?
No, but the student may purchase the book at the end of the course. Please refer to your book agreement that you signed in your initial enrollment process. It outlines all of the specifications in regard to your books.
When do I get my welcome letter?
You will receive your welcome letter 3-5 days prior to your start date. If you have not received within that time frame please contact an Education Consultant to help you.

What is difference between a certificate and a certification?
By successfully completing a course through one of our college or university partners the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion from the institution. If there is a state or national exam that the course is preparing a student for, the proper certifying body will be indicated and that association will proctor and award any type of certification. This is the student’s responsibility, although ECA is here to help guide our students in the right direction.
Does this course translate in to college credit?
Through our college and university partners, ECA offers non-credit certificate programs.
How long do access to my complete my course?
Access will begin on your start date and end on your end date unless otherwise specified. If you are falling behind in your course please contact an Education Consultant to talk about your options.
When are the course start dates?
The course start dates are determined by the student due to open-enrollment.
Is the Certification exam included in the course?
The certification exam is not included in the cost of the course unless otherwise specified in the course education and training plan.
Upon successful completion of our Dental Office Assistant course, students will be prepared for an entry-level position as a Dental Office Assistant in a dental office setting and will be prepared to sit for the NCCB national certification exam to become a Certified Dental Office Assistant (CDOA).
