This training program combines a two course training track:
Direct Support Professional Mental Health TechnicianDirect Support Professionals provide care for individuals with developmental and or physical disabilities in a number of settings including group homes, day programs, home and community based services, and vocational rehabilitation. Students will learn methods for providing assistance with living skills development, health maintenance, medication administration, personal care, and behavioral development. This course will teach current and future Direct Support Professionals methods for developing individuals basic living and social skills with the primary goal of integrating them into the community to the best of their ability. This course is designed for entry-level Direct Support Professionals.After completing this course, you should be able to:
Identify the role of the Direct Support Professional
Identify methods for supporting activities of daily living
Identify methods for empowering clients and providing the care they prefer
Comprehend the importance of supporting community inclusion as much as possible
Identify methods for providing care to support clients physical and mental health
Comprehend the history and current trends of mental healthcare
Identify the characteristics of common psychiatric disorders
Comprehend legalities related to the mental health office
Define human behavior and different elements affecting it
Identify methods for assisting those suffering from loss of life
Employment of home health aides and is expected to grow by 69 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations. Employment of personal care aides is expected to grow by 70 percent from 2010 to 2020, much faster than the average for all occupations.

What is difference between a certificate and a certification?
By successfully completing a course through one of our college or university partners the student is awarded a Certificate of Completion from the institution. If there is a state or national exam that the course is preparing a student for, the proper certifying body will be indicated and that association will proctor and award any type of certification. This is the student’s responsibility, although ECA is here to help guide our students in the right direction.
Does this course translate in to college credit?
Through our college and university partners, ECA offers non-credit certificate programs.
How long do access to my complete my course?
Access will begin on your start date and end on your end date unless otherwise specified. If you are falling behind in your course please contact an Education Consultant to talk about your options.
When are the course start dates?
The course start dates are determined by the student due to open-enrollment.
Is the Certification exam included in the course?
The certification exam is not included in the cost of the course unless otherwise specified in the course education and training plan.
